About Weeds

While there are many invasive species on the South Coast, each one is unique in its growth and ecology--thus, the control and management techniques vary from plant to plant. One of our goals as a CWMA is to connect landowners and partners with the resources they need to identify and control noxious weeds on their properties, and to re-vegetate these areas with species native to our region.

We have developed a list of species found within the CWMA's geographic range (Coos and Curry Counties), as well as some that may make their way here from neighboring counties. Click on the content below for details on Best Management Practices and control options. Also, be sure to scroll down to our Weed of the Month section below.

***For certain high priority species, it's especially important that you report a sighting if you see them outside of their known range***

Note: parts of this site are under construction. For any noxious weed questions or concerns, feel free to email us at [email protected].

Noxious Weed Profiles

Species marked with *** are those that are especially important to report to a local noxious weeds professional, or online/by phone HERE.

Weed of the Month

Each month, the South Coast CWMA partners with the Coos County Noxious Weed Board and local watershed councils to highlight a "weed of the month" that we want people to be on the lookout for. Though this effort is focused on Coos County, many of the species are also found in Curry County.
